Thank you to everyone who came to the National Garden Scheme open day at Waterworks Cottages last month. Despite warnings of strong winds and rain the day was a complete success and we are delighted to have raised £857 for the wonderful charities supported by the scheme.
The weeks leading up to the opening had been even more frenetic than usual with dashing up and down to Yorkshire to oversee the final stages of the planting at Nunnington Hall, but with the help of our garden guru Leslie and some late nights in the borders we got there.
Thank you to Rotherview Nursery for providing some lovely plants for sale. As a self confessed plant shopaholic I was in good company, with some of the visitors also showing a penchant for a bit of plant purchasing! Thank you to St George’s church, Brede for doing the refreshments at Sculdown (our garden partner opened by Christine Buckland), it wouldn't be an NGS open garden day without cake! Also big thank you to Raya, Iris, Andy, Carole, and Stuart for helping out on the day (& Dave the Dog of course).
