Georgian
Walled
Garden

Garden Design,
Kent

Designed to complement the charming tall old garden walls in the grounds of a grade II listed Georgian manor house in Lydd, this romantic rose garden follows a traditional quartered layout, but with a modern naturalistic twist to the planting.

A beautiful steel pergola designed by Kristina and built by Sonny Banham of Rose and Rust lines the walls, planted with climbing roses, Wisteria and Clematis, with a gravel path beneath.  Reclaimed Yorkstone paths lead from an doorway in the wall to the existing summerhouse and across the garden  at right angles, with a stone sundial at the centre.

The beds are romantically planted with white and pale pink David Austin roses and deep pink/purple old roses with tall Veronicastrum, Delphinium and Lupins, Nepeta, pink and white peonies and a host of other cottage garden favourites in white, pale pink and blue tones. Lofty Selinum wallichianum and Althea cannabina will tall delicacy to the planting.

This walled garden is phase 1 of a larger project.

Hard landscaping constructed by Sam Avard.
