Westfield School Sensory Garden

Garden Design,
East Sussex

A sensory garden designed in the confines of an existing raised bed previously used as a vegetable garden. The school wanted a seating area in the garden and for it to be low maintenance and drought tolerant.

I designed a gravel garden of predominantly perennials, grasses and bulbs, with some Mediterranean shrubs for structure. The planting dynamically changes in height with the changing of the seasons, providing different textures, scent, colour and a feast for the senses.

The garden was built with help from parents from the school and the children helped to plant the garden and lay stones for the paths.
